Practicing Gratitude – #FridayFive 10th November 2017 33

Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude, so here’s my #FridayFive which are the five things that I am grateful for this week. Join in! What are you grateful for?

  1. I am grateful that I have been able to climb myself out of a couple of days of depression at the beginning of the week (or at least I hope I have) On Monday and Tuesday this week I felt very low and exhausted. I didn’t attend my group therapy session on Monday evening and then slept for half of Tuesday. After lots of sleep I was able to shower and complete some self care so that I was able to go to work Wednesday and Thursday. I still felt exhausted and down but I came through it to get dressed, get out of the house and act relatively human like at work!
  2. I am grateful for the understanding that I received when going through this. My manager was very caring and adjusted some of my workload so my return to work was less anxiety inducing and stressful on Wednesday.
  3. I’m also grateful to the followers of the Milly’s Guide facebook page.  When I shared how I was feeling, I got lots of support and understanding. It was great to know that I wasn’t alone and other people understood how I was feeling.
  4. I’m grateful to Josh for his care and love, always.
  5. In an effort to be grateful for the colder, greyer weather… I’m grateful that it is soup weather! I love to make homemade soups and take to work for lunch in the winter. This week I’ve tried a new recipe – a yummy spicy lentil soup.

    Not been a great week, so I am struggling. But here goes.

    1) Grateful for having an excellent Vet who got straight on top of Ollie’s recurring skin complaint.
    2) Grateful for having such a trusting and well-behaved dog in Ollie.
    3) Grateful for my dog-walking companions who make our daily walks more interesting, and give company for Ollie with their dogs.
    4) Grateful for all the people who support my blog by continuing to read everything.
    5) Grateful for the helpful members of the blogging community who rallied round with advice when I had problems with WordPress this week.

    1. I am grateful this and every week for volunteering at GFW. It gives me a bit of me time doing something I enjoy with like minded people.
    2. Going out with my camera makes me see things from a different perspective. A sugar factory can take on a look of beauty through the lens.
    3. I am very grateful to have Hugo, my cockerpoo because he makes me smile every day and knows when I need that bit of extra love.
    4. I am grateful for this hot cup of coffee ☕️ after being outside in the cold.
    5. Finally I am grateful for the sunshine on this cold winters day. Makes the day so much better than a grey cloudy one!

    1. I didn’t have to spend two evenings at parents evenings!
    2 . My mum in law making my dinner 2 nights a week
    3. My phone protector because I dropped it so badly last week!
    4 . The Smule app… it keeps my girl busy!
    5 . My hubby feverishly trying to book a surprise weekend away for our anniversary next week!

    Hi Milly, i’m sorry you went through a difficult time at the beginning of the week but well done for being able to get to work later on.
    1. I started a new job this week so I’m grateful for that opportunity
    2. The people in my new place seem really nice and supportive, which hasn’t always been my experience elsewhere
    3. I’m grateful for my furbabies who make me smile when I get home as they always show me love
    4. I’m grateful to my husband who cooked some meals in advance of this week so we just had to heat them up when we got home
    5. I’m grateful for sleep. I slept so much last night, which was what I needed, and I feel more refreshed today 🙂

    What a great idea, a Friday Five! Let’s see…1) took my youngest to get her first library card!, 2) got to have lunch out with her, 3) got to Facetime with friends because all our kids had a partial school holiday, and have a lovely chat w/her 6yo (!), 4) got to have a long phone chat with another friend, 5) my mom is visiting and she and I will spend a girls’ day out together today (Saturday)! Thanks again for this great inspiration – love it! 🙂 (and also sorry you started the week in a somewhat depressed slump – been there, done that, never fun! – glad you are feeling a bit better!)

    I think this FridayFive idea is fantastic. We should all take time to take stock of what we are grateful for.

    1. Having a week off with my husband.
    2. Spending time with his family this week.
    3. Surprising my niece by collecting her from school and having a lovely afternoon doing crafts.
    4. One of my best friends welcomed a baby boy into this world on Monday.
    5. Finally seeing the Killers live last night!

    Today I feel especially grateful for my best friends who I only get to see a few times a year (since I moved house). Also grateful for my fabulous son who arrived late last night with his girlfriend to surprise me! My weekend is going good!
    I like reading posts like this because it really does make me stop to think hard about all the great things in life. Then the ‘not so good’ stuff doesn’t seem so bad after all!

    I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling with depression. A close family member of mine has severe depression. It’s such a serious thing and can really take hold of a person. I’m glad you were well enough to go back to work on Wednesday. It’s great your Manager was supportive and understanding. That’s what is needed the most.

    I love this a LOT. I want to start this for myself.
    Let’s see…
    1. I’m grateful that I’ve been able to get in a lot of exercise this week which I can tell is helping to stave off my depression
    2. I’m grateful for my light therapy lamp!
    3. I’m grateful that my iPhone X appears to have been delivered to my apartment this morning and I’ll get to un box it when I get home (wheeeeeee!)
    4. I’m grateful for my warm winter coat on these cold days
    5. I’m grateful for the box of hot chocolate mix I forgot past me bought for future me. Thanks past me! Nice thinking.

    1. Friends, I have some great ones.
    2. Hot water bottles, being cosy is good.
    3. My cat Theodore is starting to feel better it seems.
    4. It didn’t rain when I got off the bus.
    5. My niece gave me the biggest ‘cuggle’ (cuddle!)
