Practicing Gratitude – #FridayFive 12th January 2018 5

This is my weekly blog post sharing what I am grateful for. Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude and I would love for you to share what you’re grateful for in the comments.

  1. I am grateful that my back is finally feeling better *fingers crossed* After struggling with the agony of sciatica my back and leg were finally feeling better at the weekend and we managed a quick walk in the woods. And there were blue skies!
  2. I am grateful for a lovely meal out with my parents to celebrate my dads birthday. Yummy food and great company.
  3. Just as my painful back started to ease I developed a toothache, which continued to get worse. Cue lots of stress and anxiety to arrange an emergency dentist appointment plus lots of fear that I might need a tooth taken out. To cut a long story short I am grateful that I did not need a tooth removed, that the receptionist tried her best to distract me from my nerves while I cried in the waiting room, that the dentist was very nice, and that my tooth is now nearly pain free!
  4. I have had a very anxious week and one very depressed day. I am grateful that I have been able to undertake some self care and utilise some self care activities like reading, walking, cuddling Milly and colouring.
  5. I’m grateful for everyone who understands, cares and reaches out when I am struggling whether that’s online, in person or via text.

What are you grateful for?

Glad to hear your tooth was sorted out, Lauren.

Not a bad week for me, but struggling with five. Here goes.
    1) Grateful that my wife’s new job seems to be working out, after the first couple of days were ‘wobbly’
    2) Grateful for the beginning of lighter evenings, despite the grey days.
    3) Grateful for Ollie making me have to brave the weather and go for a long walk every day.
    4) Grateful for lots of very supportive people in my blogging community.
    5) Grateful for nice feedback on two fiction stories posted this week.

    Best wishes, Pete.

Glad to hear by the end of the week you were relatively pain free! Sorry I missed last week. I just can’t seem to get my head around what day of the week it is. Hopefully now I am back at the museum I will get back on track.

Here we go with this weeks five which are probably mostly related to each other.

    1. At the end of last week I helped Martin with the filling of his bigger marine aquarium. Lugging 10 containers of water weighing 4st each was hard work so I am grateful that I didn’t have to do it again this week!

    2. For once in the 13.5 yrs I was actually grateful that Martin has CFS else I’m sure he would have driven the 90 odd miles to ‘punch the lights out’ of Lucys abusive now ex boyfriend. I would have gone myself but she is dealing with it the sensible way!

    3. Which leads me on to being grateful for raising such a level headed daughter who has realised she needs help coming to terms what has happened and has sought help from a counsellor.

    4. I am grateful to Martin for loving my children as if they are his own. I know things have not been plain sailing in our 16 yrs together but over the last few years everything has come together.

    5. Finally a double grateful. I am grateful to be back at work doing what I enjoy and also grateful that the big pile of boxes now have a home!

Have a good week people and remember to look for those positives! X
