Practicing Gratitude – #FridayFive 16th February 2018 28

This is my weekly blog post sharing what I am grateful for. Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude and I would love for you to share what you’re grateful for in the comments.

  1. I’m grateful for a lovely Sunday spent with friends. We had a wonderful walk in the woods, bathed two muddy dogs, used my imagination sailing on boats round the living room and had a lovely catch up!
  2. I had fun at the weekend baking very chocolaty muffins! I don’t do it very often but I love to bake – it is a creative form of self care and you get to something yummy afterwards!
  3. I’m grateful for a lovely Valentine’s Day. Josh and I have both been on leave this week (not specifically for Valentine’s Day – we don’t usually do much to celebrate it) but we had a super lazy day. We built a den in the living room, watched 2 and a half films, ate bread and cheese for lunch and had a roast dinner plus lots of cuddles with Milly!
  4. This week I made time to indulge in some self care in the form of a hot bath – I used bath salts, coconut oil, lavender and rosemary essential oils for some real ‘me’ time.
  5. On Thursday I had a headache filled sleepy morning. I’m grateful that I felt better later on for a lovely, sunny walk by the river.

What are you grateful for?

Join in! I’d love to know. Let me know in the comments or leave a link to your own #FridayFive gratitude blogpost.

    1. I am really grateful to my lovely bestie Jan who took me to Venice last week. I am still reliving the brilliant time we had through the 2075 photographs I shot!.Not all keepers I hasten to add! Love her to bits X

    2. I am grateful for a lovely weekend relaxing and catching up on snuggles with Martin and Hugo. Missed them both loads.

    3. I have recently changed my mobile service provider and the morning I went to Venice my phone decided not to have any signal but I took it anyway in case it woke up on the way. This indeed did happen as soon as the plane landed in Italy! No data but at least I could make calls. On returning no signal again! So feeling bemused and a little frustrated I phoned Sky and a nice man called Daniel sorted it out for me. To him I am truly grateful.

    4. This week we had a phone call to say our new carpets will be fitted on Wednesday. After nearly a month without lounge and hall carpets I will be glad to have warm feet!

    5. As always I am very grateful to have close family and friends around me, including pets who make my world a good place to be.

    Have a good week all

    Heather X

I love these blog posts Lauren; it’s great to have 5 minutes to take stock of things and really focus on the positives 🙂

    This week I’m grateful for:

    1. Getting a decent night sleep (I haven’t slept well for the last few months).

    2. Staying in on Valentines Day for our dinner date – I can manage my pain much better at home.

    3. Going for a family walk after work on Monday with our two Westies.

    4. Started reading my new book “Happy” by Fearne Cotton (and adding more to my reading list).

    5. My Tisserand aromatherapy roller balls – I found out today that my lavender one should help prevent my headaches.

Thankyou, I’m glad you like them! How are you finding the Happy book? I’ve had it a while but not read all of it, and it always felt like too nice a book to write in for the activities. I’ve also got her second book Calm – planning a review of both of them at some point! Ooh why should the lavender roll on prevent headaches? Could use some at the moment! 🤕

This has been an up and down week. So this is what I’m grateful for

    1. My lovely husband spoiling me with my valentines gift.

    2. An extremely sad morning on Thursday as I attended the funeral of a friend and former colleague. I’m grateful I could attend and to hear more about his life.

    3. We had family to stay for a couple of days so I’m grateful to have space in our lovely home so they could stay with us.

    4. Also grateful for a lovely afternoon on Thursday at Beamish and a fab meal on the evening too.

    5. I’m thankful that the engineer who came to device our boiler was chatty and friendly as I felt quite down and lonely once everyone left this morning – the house felt empty and he cheered me up.

Sounds like a lovely week! And yay for baking and self care time. I’m grateful for cuddles from my cats; a relaxed Valentine’s Day with some cake and a movie; and the support of good friends. 🙂

Today I’m grateful that my Little-Miss-Six is well again after a week of sickness. Also for wonderful hubby who spoils us rotten. Grateful for opportunities to learn and grow and to be able to recognise when things need change/improvement. I’m grateful that I discovered the importance of practicing gratitude – it makes such a difference!

I am grateful for a holiday on Monday! I am up very early today because I’m nervous about case shopping today, so I’m happy to still have two full days to myself. I have a lot to do to get ready for my new puppy (yay!) but I need some time to just do nothing!

Always a good reminder and a breath of positivity. Today: my son’s birth—he is 25; the Champagne and cake in the fridge; the activists working so hard to make the world better; the fire in my fireplace; the love in my heart. Thanks.

I’m glad you had a great week. That bath sounds heavenly! (I’m a mom, so I don’t get to enjoy ‘me’ time very often.) Hope next week goes well for you!
