Practicing Gratitude – #FridayFive 1st December 2017 13


Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude, so here’s my #FridayFive which are the five things that I am grateful for this week.

  1. I am grateful for a really lovely day out in Cambridge at the weekend. Josh and I went to see some talks as part of Cambridge Literary Festival. We saw Robert Webb and Sarah Millican speak about their recently published books (check out my review of Sarah Millican’s How to be Champion here!) It was really lovely to spend time together doing something different, doing some shopping and chilling out in a coffee shop to warm up!
  2. While we were in Cambridge Milly spent the day with my parents. I’m grateful to them for always being happy to look after her and spoiling her – Milly was very happy when my Dad came to collect her!
  3. I have had a headache on and off for four days. I’m very grateful (and keeping my fingers crossed!) that it seems to have gone now.
  4. The weather has turned bitterly cold and we’ve had snow today! I am grateful for warm clothes, heating and for blankets to snuggle under.
  5. I am once again grateful for the kindness of relative strangers who work for the NHS. This time it was a routine appointment but the nurse didn’t judge me for being nervous and did her best to make me comfortable.

    Glad to hear that you had a good week, Lauren.

    1) Grateful that we had snow for just one day. It might look nice, but this country never copes with it.
    2) Grateful to some lovely bloggers who have written such nice comments this week. It inspires me to keep writing.
    3) Grateful for some of Julie’s friends who have arranged things to get her out of the house, and have a change of scene.
    4) Grateful for Ollie, who never complains when I have to cut his walks short.
    5) Grateful for the sunshine this morning, after some dull and grey days.

      Glad you had a good week too Pete. I’m grateful that the snow wasn’t too bad and that I was able to drive home before it got too dark – snow in the dark is so horrible to drive in! Hope you, Julie and Ollie have a lovely weekend and good week – I always look forward to hearing about your week on a Friday!

    We had a fair bit of snow actually! Hope the headache has gone.

    Here’s what I’m grateful for this week:

    1. That my mam and dad although sore are both ok following a car crash last week.
    2. Being able to drive and have a car so I could take my mam on errands this week because she didn’t have a car.
    3. Kind and considerate London cabbies for being nice and funny and not taking me the long way round London this week.
    4. Despite the snow my trains to and from London were not too badly delayed.
    5. My lovely husband carrying my heavy bag down a steep icy bank on Friday night when I was weary from travelling all night.

    Love reading your #FridayFive. It’s really healthy to keep yourself focused on the positive. I agree about being grateful for heat and warm clothes this time of year. Brr! Stay warm.
