Practicing Gratitude – My #FridayFive 21st July 2017 31

Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude, so here’s my #FridayFive which are the five things that I am grateful for this week. Join in! What are you grateful for?

  1. I am so glad it’s Friday! It’s felt like a long, stressful week with so much going on at work and a time home. I’m so tired and am grateful for a chilled Friday evening and a fun weekend ahead.
  2. This week Josh’s mum has been very poorly and rushed into hospital. I am so grateful that she is now okay and on the mend, very grateful to all the wonderful NHS staff who looked after her.
  3. Im grateful to the lovely people that I work with. They were all very sympathetic and concerned when I explained what was going on with Josh’s mum and why I was distracted at work. As well as this they were wonderful when I had a massive panic attack, and threw some chocolate biscuits out the window to me no questions asked!
  4. Linked to this I’m grateful that I was able to work from home the afternoon after I had my massive panic attack. I just couldn’t seem to stop panicking and felt constantly anxious and on the verge of panic. Coming home meant I could stay calm, cuddle Milly, breathe in some essential oils while typing on my laptop.
  5. After the events of this week I’m also grateful for my health. Although not feeling in tip top shape with anxiety, headaches, sore throat, a bruised ankle and a burnt hand I am healthy. I’m very grateful for my body and everything that it does every day without my even noticing – like breathing, heart beating and putting one foot in front of the other.

Not a wonderful week, but good enough for five gratefuls!

    1) Grateful to have another article published in a real magazine, Longshot Island, and to receive my copies of it today.
    2) Grateful for everyone who got involved in my recent A-Z music challenge.
    3) Grateful to find some energy again, and to be able to finally trim the front hedges.
    4) Grateful to see the end of the oppressive humid weather that made me feel ill earlier this week.
    5) Grateful to be invited to my friend’s wedding this weekend, and hoping that I am up to the task of master of ceremonies.

    Best wishes, Pete.

Glad to hear that you’re feeling better Pete. And wonderful news that you had another article published and your second A to Z challenge went well. I’ve been very amiss at my blog reading, for which I apologise. Hope you have a good weekend and wedding x

Thankyou for your lovely comment. I really find that having to do my gratitude list for my blog really helps me maintain gratitude. Sometimes, like this week, it can be difficult but worth it when I’ve come up with 5 things!

In this modern world the media and news tends to focus on tragedy and what’s going wrong. Very rarely do they feature positive stories. You touched on one with the NHS and if we listen to everything “presented” to us then we’d assume is was a terrible facility. And yet, daily I hear former patients saying how impressed they were with staff and the care received.

I might be digressing, but my point is this is a fantastic idea. To list five positive things and let them counteract all that negative energy. Make this a habit and I bet down the line life will be a bit less stressful πŸ™‚

Hi Gary, thanks for checking out my post. I find that because I *have* to do my list for the blog that’s it becoming a real habit πŸ™‚

      • Gary

My pleasure, and I think your method is an excellent one. The trick for people like me is to forge the habit and not let other thungs that need doing interrupt the time for me and writing. Reading this helps me to remember that!

I absolutely think, with a week like yours, practicing gratitude is a helpful practice. My word, you had a lot going on. I hope you’re feeling better and everything works out for your loved one. This week I’m grateful for the kindness of others. A woman I work with sent a nice note to me and copied my boss, an unexpected gift. I also got to spend a few hours with my son at camp. Reminding me of all the silly songs of youth. Why is singing so much more fun when there are hand motions involved? I’m not sure, but I enjoyed it!
Thank you for the chance to share gratitude each week. I love it.

Hi Angela, thanks for your kind words, I’m really pleased that I managed to find 5 things, especially this week! Thankyou for sharing what you’re grateful for, lovely things and I’m glad you enjoyed the singing. I hope you’ll join in again x

Thank you for sponsoring a moment to remind us that we all have so much to be grateful for. I often forget…

But today I’m grateful for the chance to hunker down in my favorite blogging chair, beneath the cooling air of my A/C and read wonderful blogs to my hearts content.
    Cheers!

What a week. Seems like a good idea to stop for a minute and log gratitude.

I’ve been logging one thing a day for a few months now. Chipping away slowly but surely towards more happiness πŸ™‚

    • LaurenEph Post author

Hi Holly, well done you for doing it every day! Sometimes it’s hard to come up with 5 things each week, but when I’ve had a tough week,
I’ve this one, it’s really satisfying to pull a list together 😊

  • Daphne DuMariner.

I find gratitude so hard do genuinely, consistently.
Mostly because life is hard and I have been conditioned to always be responsible, always take life seriously.
But this year I am incredibly grateful for the lessons I’m learning about others because those are the lessons that lead me to learn more about myself.

Thankyou for checking out my post Daphne. I’m finding that by having a routine and practicing gratitude with a blog post every week that I can keep it up and hopefully it will become a habit. That’s a lovely thing to be grateful for, Thankyou for sharing!
