Practicing Gratitude – #FridayFive – 2nd February 2018 11

This is my weekly blog post sharing what I am grateful for. Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude and I would love for you to share what you’re grateful for in the comments.

  1. It has not been a good week for me. I am still unwell, still experiencing side effects from my antidepressants. I have been signed off work for a couple of weeks while I cope with the tiredness and headaches. I’m grateful for statutory sick pay, understanding doctors and manager.
  2. I’m grateful for Milly. Without her with me my days at home would be horrible. She gives me a structure, a routine, cuddles and a reason to get out of the house.
  3. I’m grateful for Josh. I have been so grateful for him when he comes home from work and we’ve had some lovely evenings together.
  4. I’m grateful for a lovely day visiting the Museum of Happiness and lots of giggles and chat with some good friends.
  5. I’m grateful for the national #TimetoTalk day. It’s wonderful to see mental health being talked about and so many conversations about mental health happening. I wrote a blog post about why we must open up and talk about mental health.

Not much change here in Beetley to be honest, but I will have a go.

    1) Grateful for being physically, emotionally, and financially better off than so many I could name.
    2) Grateful for renewed contact with an old friend, after a long time.
    3) Grateful for getting a nice new laptop, free of charge, as an Amazon reviewer.
    4) Grateful for some sunny mornings, despite the sleet and hail most afternoons!
    5) Grateful as always to my dog Ollie, for his loyalty and companionship.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    1) Been not too bad mentally, even if crocked physically
    2) Some nice people from a church support group have been round and they have promised regular visits and other help
    3) My snowdrops are all out and my neighbour’s Japanese quince is coming into flower
    4) After managing some food shopping, both online and IRL, I have a fridge and freezer full of tempting things to eat
    5) The weather has been a bit milder and the days are definitely lengthening

Sorry you are still not feeling good. Take it easy while you have time off and hopefully you will soon be in a better place.

My 5 reasons for being grateful this week are –

    1. As always I am grateful to Martin but for a different reason this week. He has managed to juggle our limited funds so I have some new clothes and spending money for my trip to Venice on Monday.

    2. I am also grateful to my lovely friend Jan for asking me to accompany her next week and also paying for our accommodation. It’s strange that as you get older age barriers for friends drop. When you are young your friends are all in your age group.

    3. Today the insurance assessor finally came round to look at our carpets. Not only am I grateful for that but also that he said because our stairs run off the hall they will replace all the hall, stairs and landing carpet as well as the lounge.

    4. Yesterday was a big day for me. My weight loss Dr wrote to my Dr recommending my referral for bypass surgery. I am very grateful to her and all the weight loss professionals for their support in getting my head in the right place and my eating under control. I concider myself lucky to have this opportunity to turn my life around.

    5. Lastly I am grateful to my neighbours who this week gave us 6 bags of shingle which will save us a bit of money later in the year. It’s great to have good neighbours.

    Have a lovely weekend all! X X X
