Practicing Gratitude – My #FridayFive 13th July 2017 25

Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude, so hereโ€™s my #FridayFive which are the five things that I am grateful for this week. Join in! What are you grateful for?

  1. Last weekend we spent two days in London. I am so grateful for our friends Jack and Tanya for having us to stay, we had a fabulous time in the sunshine, eating, drinking and chilling out.
  2. Unfortunately over the weekend I had a lot of bad headaches. I think it was the heat and that I have been feeling really stressed and low lately. I am grateful for a chilled out few days looking after myself. At the British Museum I bought myself a lovely Hokusai colouring book. On Monday when I was ill and off work I was grateful for the colouring book and Wimbledon to watch.
  3. I am grateful for Josh and Milly who have put with a grumpy Lauren this week.
  4. In turn, I am grateful that this stressful week is nearly over!
  5. I’m grateful for a good weekend planned. Sorry it’s a short one!

Not a bad week, despite still hanging on to some aspects that ‘six-month’ winter virus.

    1) Grateful to the NHS, and my excellent GP, for sorting out medications with no fuss.
    2) Grateful to my dog Ollie, for forgiving me about his tooth extraction.
    3) Grateful to the Vet, as no charge for the follow-up!
    4) Grateful for so little rain, and dry dog-walks.
    5) Grateful as always to my excellent blog-followers for playing along with my current theme.

    Have a nice weekend, Lauren.
    Best wishes, Pete.

I hope you shake off the virus soon Pete! And glad Ollie is doing well after having his tooth out. Hope you have a good week too!

Thanks Lucy! I find that because I have to do it every week for my blog it makes me do it! Otherwise I would probably have neglected it ages ago…. how do you practice gratitude?

I’ve been ill this week too, but you’re right, there’s so much to be grateful for! I have fabulous colleagues, caring friends and it’s reminded me how much I value the NHS, and my usual good health. Here’/ to the end of the school term!

Thankyou Debbie! Even though it was a short and sweet post this week, I’m glad I still found 5 things to be grateful for. Thanks for checking out my post.

Very good practice indeed! Also nice to see it written down too to act as a self reminder. While I am au fait with the concept, I often forger to step back, breathe and do it. Must get back into that habit!

Thankyou Gary! If I didn’t have to do it every week for my blog I’m sure I would have neglected the practice a long time ago!

Forger? flipping auto-incorrect.. forget! I rather think you have just hit upon a revolutionary concept of why blogging is seriously healthy! Very good for mindfulness. I must use a similar method myself !!!!

Dinner plans with my best friend
An unexpected gift from an unexpected place
Attending the book launch of a friend/mentor

    Thanks for asking!

I like this idea of practicing gratitude. I try to do this every day or when I’m feeling frustrated, I try to switch to gratitude and it seems to work. It relieves my frustrations at the moment. Great post! Thanks for sharing!

I love how easy it is to come up wth 5 this week:
the superhuman patience of my wonderful wife
    unexpected gifts from homeless friends
enough hours left in my Saturday to dive into great blogs after finishing all my chores
clean water and a full belly
    our bed
