Self care wheel 2

Recently I’ve realised that self care is so important. It’s not selfish. It’s not a waste of time. It’s really important. It’s really important for me to help with low mood. I first became aware of self care wheels via Pinterest (I love Pinterest for self care ideas, crafty stuff and tattoo ideas!)

Take a look at this website and this one for the original Self Care wheel and another diagram which inspired me. The idea is that it lists all the different ways to take care of yourself; physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, personally and professionally. It highlights the things that are important for your wellbeing and can be a great reminder to look after yourself when low mood strikes. I created my own self care wheel. I simplified it to 4 categories and personalised it for what works for me.

It’s a combination of physical activity – Pilates is good for my back, Zumba is fun (when I get there!) I need to hit my steps target more with my Fitbit (longer walks for Milly!) and I love to dance even if it’s just round my kitchen!

The take care section is me really looking after myself and doing the things that make me happy.

I love making things. Jewellery, sofa cushions, costs stitch or DIY painting chairs. I also love colouring books and got 2 for Christmas! I now have a notebook for doodling which is where my self care wheel is doodled in.

the practical stuff is the the things I need to do and keep on top of. Leaving the washing up for days ultimately makes me feel awful so I should do it as often as I can. I must eat and I feel better when I take my vitamins.

All little things but sometimes you need a reminder to look after you. Has anyone else made a self care wheel or list? What would be on yours?

Let me know what you think
