Weekend Coffee Share 7/1/2017

Happy New Year! This week I want to share with you what I’ve done in my first week in 2017 and specifically how I have been getting on with the Self Care Challenge on Instagram.

This challenge set by Hope the Black Dog has been fantastic at getting me to think about taking some time for me in different ways. I’ve really enjoyed it and am enjoying coming up with photographs for each day of the challenge.

Day 1 was a smile to introduce ourselves, which of course included Milly!

Day 2 was get out – which I shared a silhouette and sunset picture from a very cold late afternoon walk!

Day 3 was about something that feels good. I wore a cosy thermal top, my new comfy hoody and new deliberately odd socks. I had a really hard day which started with a bad dream, continuing on with lots of anxiety through the day and finished off with a headache so it felt good to relax in bed with Milly that evening!

Day 4 was boogie. I used a new to me app called boomerang to create a dancing video which makes me giggle a lot. Check out my Instagram or Facebook Page to see it 😀

Day 5 was hug and we managed to get this very cute photo of Milly hugging me!

Day 6 was laugh so I settled down with a funny movie last night and today is smells good so I’ve baked orange and blueberry muffins!

If we were catching up over coffee, I’d tell you that Chrismas seems a long time ago now that I’ve been back at work 4 days! I’d also tell you about my Christmas present to myself which was a nutribullet and that I’m enjoying experimenting with spinach and fruit to make different coloured smoothies! How has your week been?

Let me know what you think

“If we were catching up over coffee…”
Sweet. Can’t resist the invite so here goes:
I agree, Christmas seems a long time ago! 😉
For some reason, it’s been ‘Spring Cleaning/deCluttering’ for me during and after the Winter Solstice…including a few last bits done this past week. We live in a teeny rental that profits from periodic re-sorting/re-packing/re-moving of stuff (all stuff is needful for my music/quilting/writing/etc)
And as for right now, South Carolina is getting its share of snow spits and cold – I prepped for this area’s inability to keep stores open during such weather (geesh!) with a new glass slide to experiment with on my recently splurged purchase of a triolian national tenor resonator guitar!

BTW: I love day two’s photo and day five’s dog hug!

Enjoy your own day eight’s declutter focus – HA!

Did you take a before and after photo of your sorting out? Feels even more satisfying then! Hope it’s not too cold and that you stocked up on food before all the shops shut! We’ve not had any snow here in England this winter… yet! Hope you have a good week x

Hi Lauren! Love the pics and the spirit of the challenge. Your Millie is such a team player! 😁 Christmas does seem far away… but not too far. I gave myself permission to be late with my Christmas cards and packages this year, so I just dropped off the last of the gifts at the post office! There is just one more to mail, but I need to find a box. The week had its ups and downs, and there were several rough patches, but I noticed my ability to navigate and cope is much better than it used to be. The unpleasant parts are unpleasant, but not devastating.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend and that your challenge keeps you feeling happy and healthy! Here’s to a positive start to 2017!

Yes, Milly is in so many of my photos and I think she’ll feature a
It all the way through the challenge – she is such a big part of my self care and happiness anyway. I hope you have a good week, hope the rough times get shorter and the good times longer xxx

Hi Lauren – I don’t know how I missed replying to this comment a week ago! I’m wishing the same to you today. Hope your week ahead is a pleasant one, full of lots of great self-care and healthy balance.

Well done with your challenge, Lauren.
I have to be honest. With the deaths of my aunt and one of my best friends in the same week, it is quite difficult to continue to be positive for 2017.
    But I will!
    Best wishes, Pete.
