A to Z Challenge | U is for Uncertainty 3

Day 21 of my mental health themed A to Z Challenge is U for uncertainty.

Life is uncertain. You cannot predict what will happen. Nobody knows. But that doesn’t stop you worrying. Anxiety is uncertainty. It is wondering what will happen and what the future will hold.

Change can be unsettling. I know that my life will change in the next couple of months. My partner’s contract at work is due to finish soon and our life will change. He’s looking for a new job, which means we won’t be working at the same place anymore, we might have to move house or move back to my parents. All of that uncertainty means that I am worried, stressed and anxious. And I know that there is nothing I can do about it. I just have to wait.

Uncertainty can indeed lead to worry, which in turn leads to stress. That is all multiplied many times if you are also suffering with Depression. All I can really add, is that life has a way of sorting itself out. I have had very bad times in the past. Lost everything, savings, house, etc. Divorced twice, and had to move into awful rented flats. There were times when I really could not see any light at the end of what appeared to be an endless tunnel.
Yet I came through it all a better person, reasonably well-balanced, and happier now than I have ever been. I appreciate that it does no good to just say, “things will be OK”. But they usually will.
    Best wishes, Pete.
