A to Z Challenge | F is for #FridayFive 21

Day 6 of the A to Z Challenge is F so I’m combining the challenge with my regular weekly series #FridayFive!


Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude, so here’s my #FridayFive which are the five things that I am grateful for this week. Join in! What are you grateful for?


  1. I’m really grateful that the third Mental Health Mates walk I’ve organised went really well at the weekend. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and sunshine. We had a lovely walk round the park and had some great mental health chats. It was lovely to catch up with some mental health mates that had joined us previously but also to welcome a new lady to the group.
  2. Also last week it was lovely to meet up with my parents and sister and her fiancé. I am grateful for the nice pub lunch we had and walk on the beach.
  3. I’m grateful for the opportunity to attend a training course for my day-job. This week I went on the first of a four session course and I really enjoyed it. I think it will be really useful and inspire me to make some positive changes in the way that I work.
  4. On the day I did the training course I had to drive about 90 minutes there and back. I’m really grateful for this time as I used it to listen to some podcasts. I found this really enjoyable and got some recommendations for books to read.
  5. I’m really grateful for everyone that has read, liked and commented on my blog recently. 6 days in and I’m really enjoying taking part in the A to Z Challenge. It’s great to read some different blogs and share my thoughts with more people. Everyone has had a great reaction to my theme of mental health and it really has shown me that I need to keep on blogging and sharing my thoughts and story.

    Good to combine the two this week, Lauren. Your Friday Five suits the theme.

    1) Grateful for the NHS. My wife has had a bad cough and high temperature. She was able to get a same-day appointment, and diagnosed with a chest infection. They gave her antibiotics, and because she is Diabetic, they are free of charge. When the NHS gets so much criticism, it is important to balance that with credit.
    2) Grateful for the weather that has brought a short taste of summer to Norfolk, with more to come this weekend.
    3) Grateful for the blue tits that have used our nest box once again this year. It is a delight to watch them flying in and out, knowing they are raising their chicks.
    4) Grateful for the new growth on plants and shrubs in the garden. Watching them come back to life signals the end of winter.
    5) Grateful to live in a nice peaceful place, virtually free of noise and distractions.

      Hi Susan, thankyou for checking out my post. I’m really pleased that you liked it and like my theme. I tried to make the #FridayFive a link up but couldn’t get it to work very well. So I’m really keen for lots of us to write these gratitude posts. I will try again, probably after the challenge! Will check out your focus post now 🙂

    5 things I’m grateful for this week:
    1. The sun has broken through the London grey
    2. My husband brought me a cuppa in bed before he left for work this morning
    3. I only lost my balance twice in yoga class this week (I’m an overweight unfit middle-aged novice)
    4. My daughter starts holidays today so I will be seeing more of her.
    5. Organic food from the farmers’ market we visited last Sunday.

    I like the idea of the #FridayFive; I used to sometimes take part in a Thankful Thursday but it disappeared. Five things I am thankful for this week are: friends, family (both have been very supportive of late), fun on a walk with my hubby yesterday, flowers, and the AtoZ linkup which has introduced me to new blogs. I appreciate your mental health theme as well.
