Practicing Gratitude – #FridayFive 19th January 2018 45

This is my weekly blog post sharing what I am grateful for. Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude and I would love for you to share what you’re grateful for in the comments.

#FridayFive Practicing Gratitude Milly's Guide

  1. I am grateful for a lovely chilled weekend with Josh and Milly. And I’m looking forward to another one!
  2. I am grateful that we have charities campaigning against initiatives like blue monday. I loved dressing up in bright colours to support the Rethink #brightbluemonday. Take a look at my facebook page if you want to see my rainbow outfit!
  3. I’m grateful that I now have a local pilates class (literally a 2 minute walk away – no excuses!) to attend. I felt super relaxed and sleepy after it, take a look at the reasons why I think pilates helps mental health.
  4. This week we had a super strong storm. I am grateful that all is okay now and everyone I know is safe.
  5. I am grateful for sleep! I had a couple of nights of insomnia – getting about 4 – 5 hours sleep. I definitely need at least 8 hours! I’ve now had 2 nights of good sleep and I really can feel the difference! I feel so much better so I am very grateful for sleep!

What are you grateful for?

We had a big personal blow this week, so I had to think hard.

    1) Grateful for no storm damage to our trees, house, or garden.
    2) Grateful for having Ollie to take our mind off our worries.
    3) Grateful for the support and kindness of friends.
    4) Grateful for what we still have, and the fact we can make do.
    5) Grateful for having the good sense to invest in workplace pensions for 30 years.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Sunday I had a day at the races and I’m very grateful to have been able to share it fellows photoggers. Great day but not so great photos!

    2. During Wednesday nights high winds my rabbits hutch got blown over. I a very grateful my baby girl, Marble was unhurt.

    3. Which leads me on to being grateful for central heating! The wind has been bitingly cold.

    4. Definitely grateful for my box of balsam tissues this week as the cold I have had on and off since the end of November decided to rear its ugly head yet again.

    5. As always I am grateful to Martin. He looked after me when I should have been looking after him. I really cannot cope with a drippy nose and eveything else cold related!

    That’s all folks! X

Lovely post! I’m grateful for being in supportive networking groups both online and in person as I learn so much from them. I’m grateful for the opportunities that arose this week, and I’m grateful that I can come home at the end of the day to my beautiful children x

I love your outfit for Blue Monday. This week I am feeling sorry for myself as I have a horrendous cold, but here are some things that I am grateful for:
    1. My family
    2. My warm house in the cold weather
    3. Passing my exam
    4. Our blogging community
    5. Having a sense of humour! 🙂

Lovely way to round up a week! I’m guilty of not doing that and often being very unmindful looking back because I migrate at things that haven’t gone to plan rather than those that have. I really ought to do this myself and actually blog it to fix it in my space, so to speak. Mind you there is one big achievement I can share on the basis you have made me think positive and that is yesterday I hit my target of completing the first draft of a book I’ve been writing since November. Coincides with me not being on BUYB for some time.

    Good post Milly

      • Gary

Thanks, it kept me out of the BUYB loop for two and a half months! Had to drop in today, but didn’t leave a link myself. Bit exhausted mentally after the project. I might take you up on that too. It’s a good way to self evaluate properly.

I’m deeply appreciative of your rethinking blue Monday. As a depression and bipolar disorder survivor, this means a lot. I’m also glad that you’re working out and I do believe it has a significant impact on mental health.

    Your gratitude list is wonderful.

This week I am grateful for the fruits of hard work that have paid off for my blog. I’m grateful for not allowing bad news to drag me down. I’m grateful for friends who are family and who cheer me up. I’m immensely grateful for family whom I can call upon at any time.

Thankyou Shailaja, you have a wonderful list of things to be grateful for. Well done for not letting bad news get you down – that is often my downfall. Hope you have a good weekend!

  • Losing the Plot

Crumbs, I am grateful for so much! My family, friends who have been there for me when I needed them but there is a much longer list x

That’s great you found a pilates class so close! I totally understand about the insomnia. I’ve had it for about 4 straight years now and it’s nightly. I finally got put on a prescription for it, but still working out the kinks. Hope you continue to get full nights of sleep!

I’m grateful for my wonderful family and my health. I think gratitude does lead to happiness, it forces us to focus on the positive instead of the negative. I try to think of at least three things I’m grateful for before I get out of bed and that does set a positive tone for the day.

    Glad you are all safe.
    I am grateful for:
    – seeing another day
    – a healthy newborn baby girl
    – my son’s teacher for being so patient in teaching him
    – keeping my husband safe all the time
    – my in-law’s support
That’s it. Have a great day!
