Practicing gratitude is supposed to lead to happiness and a more positive attitude, so hereβs my #FridayFive which are the five things that I am grateful for this week. Join in! What are you grateful for?
- In light of the news this week and what happened in Manchester I am especially grateful for our emergency services teams, the NHS, all the Doctors and Nurses who stayed to look after people or who even came back in to work and everyone who ran into the Arena to help.
- I’m grateful for Josh, Milly, my family, my friends and their love.
- I’ve now been on a higher dose of my antidepressants for 2 weeks. I’m grateful that they have already helped me, I feel more in control of my emotions, less irritable and able to get out of bed in the morning.
- It’s been an incredibly busy, stressful time at work. This week it’s been even busier with the added time pressure of deadline – I am super grateful that we met the deadline and can relax again a little!
- I’m looking forward to a long weekend off work and spending time with my mum and sister.
I think, if we look hard enough, there is always something to be grateful for π
I’ve been doing my #FridayFive each week and sometimes it’s harder than other times! But it’s very satisfying when I come up with a good list!
Oh definitely!!! π
It’s been a difficult week – I’ve found gratitude in the response of the people of Manchester… Proud to be a Mancunian! Things like this bring people together
It’s good that we can find things to be grateful for and proud of when things happen x
Incredible things to be grateful for. Sending you lots of love Lauren <3 <3 <3
Thankyou Niki ππβ€οΈ
Yes this has been a sad week and practicing gratitude is a good idea. Thank you for sharing.
Thankyou for sharing your thoughts, what are you grateful for?
I’m grateful for so much, that 5 just wouldn’t be enough but I’m mostly grateful for my family as they keep me grounded and sane! Lovely piece π
Glad you like it! And I’m glad that you have so much to be grateful for π
Fabulous post!! I need to do this
Please do! Would love it if you shared what you are grateful for x
Writing gratitude lists is the most rewarding practice I have ever learned to do. I don’t always write down what I am grateful for but I start each day saying it out loud. Every morning on the way to school I ask my 6yr old to tell me one thing she’s grateful for today. She loves doing it! π Top of my gratitude list today is; I am grateful that I have good friends.
That’s a wonderful morning ritual! Thankyou for sharing π
There is always something to be grateful for, this post definitely puts that in perspective! π
Thankyou Emma π
I belong to a weekly gratitude linkup and writing about the things I’m grateful for really helps to bring some perspective on life. Those things which seem so overwhelming often fade into the background when I think about how lucky I am with the life I have π
I’ve been doing it weekly for a little while and really enjoy doing it. After I’ve written these things down, even if they’re a struggle to find sometimes, I always feel a little bit more positive π what is the linkup you are part of?
Hi! I love the idea of a Friday Five! So simple and meaningful. This week, I’m grateful for a super fun birthday for my now eight-year-old. I’m also grateful for all the kindness of strangers–no matter what the situation. It all makes a difference.
Thankyou for sharing what you’re grateful for. The kindness of strangers is always good, I love saying hello to people in the street and seeing their face light up with a hello back!
I’m grateful for life. It’s a gift that I woke up today even though I’m doing chores and not on some fantastic luxury vacation :-). For me, life is what I am thankful for every day because it means I get another chance…
Such true words Melissa! Thankyou for sharing x
I’m grateful for the sun shining and a nice walk right now! Life is so stressful, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference to me βΊ
When the sun is shining and the sky is blue I always feel so much better! ππβοΈ
Those are five great choices! One of my FB groups does a weekly gratitude post, and I find that the weeks I contribute, I seem to have a more positive outlook on things. Thanks for reminding me I need to get back in the habit. Here’s a quick five from me –
~ Grateful that we have the most amazing landlords on the planet (not just saying that because our landlady dropped a huge armload of rhubarb from their garden on us this morning!).
~ Grateful that our current financial pinch coincided with a sudden uptick in overtime at hubby’s job, so in a few more weeks we can breath easier.
~ Grateful that all the rain over the past month pushed our area out of the drought warnings that dogged us last year.
~ Grateful for my camera and the time to wander around our yard taking pictures.
~ Grateful for my husband & children who always support me when I’m battling anxiety & depression, and extra gratitude to the inventor of Zoloft!
Thankyou for sharing your five things Traci! They’re a great list of things to be grateful for. I often blog about mental health, is Zoloft a medication?
Yes, Zoloft (Sertraline) is an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety, and it’s the first thing to have worked for our youngest (17), and myself. And you’re very welcome – I enjoyed your post immensely!
Ah, I take Sertraline aswell but I didn’t recognise the Zoloft name. I’ve been taking it for 5 years but now at the highest dose and may look at changing it. Glad to hear it’s working for you and your youngest x
I’m grateful for the extended cool weather. Not quite ready for the summer heat yet.
Thankyou for sharing Gabe. We’re having a bit of a heatwave here in the U.K. Where are you?
I’m actually in Romania right now, enjoying a cool rain storm.
I am also grateful for those brave first responders who run to danger to help other people. My husband and I keep a grateful jar. We use slips of paper to write out something we are grateful for and then drop them in the jar. On New Year’s we read them and reflect back on the year.
That’s a lovely idea Jennifer! How often do you put the slips in the jar? I’d probably forget to do it!!! X
What a great way to end the week! I’m grateful for:
1. My friends and family being safe.
2. Having the chance to relax, read and blog this long weekend.
3. Winning a giftcard to one of my favorite stores.
4. Getting to see my grandma when she visited from Texas this week.
5. Having someone like you to remind me to be grateful.
Have an awesome long weekend!
